Good Condensate pump

This pump was a replacement for an original pump that lasted about five years. If you see a pool of water underneath your furnace/Air Conditioner coil housing then your condensate pump needs replacement. Ordering this model through Amazon saved about 50% over a comparable pump available at the Home Depot.Delivery was slow so I was baling out a bucket for a week or so. I would recommend this brand. The earlier model failed possibly because it was encased in an insulated box to reduce any noise. In fact the basement location and the fact that it only runs when the Air conditioner fan is on makes noise almost a moot point. I did not enclose the replacement and therefore expect it to run much longer without failing since heat dissipation will not be a problem.

no safety switch

This is model VCMA-15UL, a better model is VCMA-15ULS, the S indicates a safety switch. On Amazon the VCMA-15ULS is also typically cheaper than the VCMA-15UL. All the other specs are identical.

Great service delivering Little Giant VCMA-15-UL condensate pump. This is a very reliable, good operating pump which I never knew to clean out. No wonder it died after 6 years of use. Now I know, Clean it yearly just as you would change your furnace filters.Easy replacement of existing same model pump with one difference. Taking off the cover you will see an extra module with two black wires to connect to an alarm system. I don't have an alarm system. My old pump did not have that. So, I did not attempt to connect it to anything.Pull exising connecting wires from contacts and then connect existing contact wires from the old condensate pump to the new pump. The floor mounted pump seemed to be glued to the side of the furnace but it wasn't. You can't see them but there are two 1/4" metal hexhead metal screws under the triangular flange on each end of the pump body securing the pump to the furnace. You can feel them with your finger. Use a 1/4" wratchet to remove the screws. Then tilt the pump body toward you to remove it from the two 1/2" PVC pipes coming into the top of the pump body. Be sure to remove the cardboard between the contact heads when you take the top body frame off to inspect the inside and to connect the existing wires.I hope you DIY first timers find this helpful.
